ILMINGTON IS NOTED for its beautiful historic district with 18th and 19th century houses on tree-lined streets along the bank of the Cape Fear River. Prominent amongst them is the de Rosset House. Built in 1841 by Dr. Armand John de Rosset III, one of Wilmington’s most prominent citizens at that time, the house is a fine example of the Greek Revival style. It sits atop a knoll in the heart of the historic district, with views over its terraced gardens of the Cape Fear River. The de Rossets were fond of entertaining and the architectural plans of the house were designed to accommodate the many social events they hosted.

This venerable and historic pre-civil war southern mansion was completely restored in 1998 and is now the home of the City Club at de Rosset, a private club for the enjoyment of its members and their guests. Providing both fine and casual dining in multiple dining rooms, bars, lounges, meeting rooms and period gardens, the club provides an exclusive and unique facility for the enjoyment of both private and corporate members to dine and socialize. For added convenience the de Rosset house also contains six luxurious suites available for its members and/or their guests lodging requirements.
